September 5, 2009:

I got married this summer, so updates have been few and far between. There's a slightly newer demo reel posted. It has some of the virtual set projects I've created.

February 21, 2009:

I've started experimenting with a cell shaded look with a van model I created in Modo. The van was rendered out in layers via Mental Ray (beauty, ambient occlusion, specular, reflections, contour lines, glow) and composited in Fusion 5.3.

January 25, 2009:

I've added an image of a digital sculpture created in Mudbox that I'm calling "The Troll" for now.

January 3, 2009:

AlloyPictures.com has just undergone a bit of a facelift. I was never happy with the way the old design was going, so I started revamping it about 3 weeks ago. I'm trying to keep things simple and well within my web programming abilities. I'm now looking forward to creating more content to showcase here, as well pursuing new freelance work.

December 1, 2008:

I added an update to my crowd simulation project.

October 21, 2008:

Updated the crowd simulation with a close-up rendering of a walkcycle sample along with a mockup painting for the environment I hope to place the characters in.

October 15, 2008:

I've added an update to the crowd simulation I've been working on here. Right now there are only "good" guys, but bad guys will soon arrive and fighting will hopefully ensue. I'd like to composite everything into a live background plate, but time is something I don't have a lot of.

September 21, 2008:

Over this weekend I've had some time to sit down on front of the computer and hash out some concepts and ideas for simulating crowds within Houdini. The basic premise is to use motion-capture data edited in AutoDesk Motionbuilder and remap it to a base character in Houdini. If you to to my tutorials/concepts page you'll see a link to the projects first steps. When I get further along with the project I'll be posting more samples as well as some how-to's.

September 13, 2008:

Welcome to AlloyPictures.com version 2.0. Things are ramping up smoothly thus far and I can't wait to get this place in a state that makes it easy to update and navigate. My goal is to have a little place here where I can show projects I've been working on and hopefully some tutorials on how I went about creating things. For those stumbling across this place, I'm a 3D artist using Maya, Modo, Houdini, as well as a plethora of supporting applications. I also love to create short films and will be posting some of my favorites. Thanks.
